Pass the Stress

As exams approach, the stress level keeps going up. Stress can have a physical and an emotional effect, which can significantly impact grades.  However, there are several ways to pass the stress and the exams.

Avoiding last minute studying.

Scientific researches show that last minute studying and cramming is not a good idea. It increases stress. Therefore, studying for 15-20 minutes each day for one to two weeks is better.

Taking short breaks.

While studying for 15- 20 minutes for each subject, a short break really helps. These short breaks can be anything, from having a snack or looking outside the window. Doing this will reenergize you and lower your stress.

Exercise.

As we all learned in PE class, exercise increases brain cells and makes us feel happier. According to the American Psychological Association, “exercise thwarts anxiety [stress] by enhancing the body’s ability to respond to stress” (apa.org).

Sleep well.

Many times this can be hard to do, but it is extremely important. For high school and college students, 8 to 10 hours of sleep is recommended. It reenergizes and helps relieve stress. Thus, sleep is really important. However, the question might be, how would I get enough time to sleep? Getting enough sleep is easier using the strategy of studying for 15 to 20 minutes each night and not cramming for the exams.

Meditation.

You might be wondering, does meditation mean doing a mara? Well, doing a mara is great because it relieves stress while praying. It connects us with Karta and Paramguru. However, meditation does not have to be doing a mara. It can mean doing yoga. It brings peace and relives stress.

All of these are great stress relievers, and there are a lot more than these. For example, a healthy diet, group study sessions, even reading a book for fun are other ways to deal with stress during exams. Exams are a very important part of our grade in a class; therefore, passing the stress during finals is as important.
